FAQs

Have you got any questions for us?

Are your sunglasses handmade?
Yes. All our products are carefully handcrafted with the highest attention to detail. Our skilled artisans know how to transform each different wood into a beautiful masterpiece (after all, some of them have been doing this for the best part of the last 20 years)!
All our glasses are created one at a time, using only natural wood: no two pairs ever look the same, shaping you into a limited edition human.

Wooden sunglasses?! What's the production process?
All our WOODHOY sunglasses are handmade within the same facility in a small factory that employs around 50 workers, with dedicated WOODHOY production lines.
We can vouch for the quality whilst keeping control of production because we do not outsource to other factories. In this way, we get to control design, packaging, quality control and customizations to suit our most specific requirements.
We acquire all raw materials in long strips from ethically sourced producers mainly in South East Asia and North America. After the design is complete, the frames are carved into the templates, while the temples are made separately by our specialists. When both frames and temples are ready, we hand-apply non-toxic wood treatment and the sunglasses are then left to airdry for up to 7 days.
The frames are then fitted with our high quality lenses, branded and then passed to our Quality Control department to make sure all adheres to CE and FDA standards.
Yes, a lot of effort goes into manufacturing each model, but what stunning results!

Are your lenses good quality?
All of our lenses offer UV400 protection and are built to prevent eye exposure to both UVA and UVB rays, blocking 100% of the sun’s dangerous radiations.
Additionally, all sunglasses feature Polarized lenses. Polarized lenses have a special chemical applied to them to filter light. The chemical’s molecules are lined up specifically to block some of the light from passing through the lens. Think of it like a miniblind hanging in front of a window. Only light that passes through the blind’s openings can be seen. As a result, the image you see with polarized lenses is a bit darker than usual, but objects look crisper and clearer, and details are easier to see. Our lenses are highly impact resistant and provide an anti-glare effect.
All our products are CE and FDA certified.

What if my WOODHOY sunglasses get wet?
Well... They'll dry. All our sunglasses are coated with a thin transparent film which protects the sunglasses from warping and cracking. Some of our models even float in water. Cool, isn't it?!

My pair of WOODHOY seems a bit unbalanced. What to do?
Sometimes it may happen, especially on frames entirely made of wood, that the sunglasses appear slightly unbalanced. There is an easy fix to it. Just place a source of heat (your hairdryer will work magic!) in front of the sunglasses bridge for 30 seconds and then gently adjust the frame in the wanted position. Hold for 30 seconds. Repeat a second time, if necessary!

Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship to pretty much every place in the world.

What are your shipping charges?
We offer FREE Australia-wide shipping on all our products and an ultra-cheap, flat rate worldwide. Simple.

How do you package the goods?
We are proud of our thoughtful packaging mechanism, designed to eliminate the use of plastic and maximize usage of eco-friendly materials. Our protective sunglasses cases are made of wood, our shipping boxes are made of recycled cardboard, our hang tags are made of recycled paper and we only use strings that are made of hemp. 100% of our packaging box is bio-based. We love it.

Will international orders be subject to custom fees?
All customs, taxes, import duties, or any additional charges by your local government are the responsibility of the recipient. There is a chance that you will get charged duties/customs fees: in such case, WOODHOY cannot be responsible for these fees in any way, as we do not receive this money. Please get in touch with your customs office for more information.

How long do I need to wait to receive my WOODHOY sunglasses?
We aim to process all orders within 48 hours. It normally takes about a week from the moment you complete the purchase to the moment a crafty WOODHOY masterpiece is sitting on your nose.
We run quite an innovative supply chain and hold stock in a few places around the world to ensure we combine price effectiveness for our customers and speed of delivery. Based on your location we'll ship the products you have chosen from the facility which is the closest to you and have availability of your selection. At the moment, we have warehouses in USA, China and Australia and looking to expand rapidly.
Feel free to contact us at any time if you want to know where your sunglasses are!

How do I look after my WOODHOY sunglasses?
We recommend using the same approach as with any other pair of glasses. You can clean the lenses by using the soft bamboo fiber cloth which we also include complementary in your order.

What is Cool Earth and why should I care?
Cool Earth is the non-profit organisation that works alongside Rainforest Communities to halt deforestation and its impact on climate change.
Half of the world’s rainforest has been destroyed in the last 40 years. And, contrary to the headlines, rainforest continues to be lost at a faster rate than ever. But it’s not too late. Cool Earth believes the rainforest can be saved.
By developing local livelihoods, Cool Earth's mission is to end the cycle of deforestation entrenching villages into further poverty. Creating strong, self-determining communities – not dependency.
Cool Earth is also the only charity that works solely where the threat to the forest is greatest, on the frontline of deforestation.

WOODHOY stands firmly on the side of Cool Earth: each pair of sunnies you purchase supports real projects. Please note all our woods are sustainably sourced only in areas of the planet where they are abundant and we are proud of our continuous effort in reducing plastic pollution.
